Taking a peek at From Software's Steam stats yielded two worthy bits of information. First, that Dark Souls 2 has done amazingly well on PC. And second, that about as many would-be warriors are visiting Lordran now as there were when Prepare to Die was first released a year and a half ago.
That makes Dark Souls' ghostly connection to Games for Windows Live an ongoing concern. But Namco Bandai insist the game will exist there functionally for the "foreseeable future".

"We thoroughly appreciate the dedicated fans who are adventuring through Lordran (maybe for the first time!)," wrote the publishers.
"Dark Souls will remain fully functional on GFWL for the foreseeable future."
That's a surprise – given that we're currently expecting Codemasters have transitioned online components for their games to different services in recent months, but Namco are in no such rush.
I don't much fancy the idea of Dark Souls without the borderline spoilers of other players pockmarking the terrain, do you? Let's hope Ban Conai have got this one right.
