LoL Patch 8.5 Release Date And Downtime
We don't know the exact release date for patch 8.5 yet, but the schedule is bi-weekly so expect it on Wednesday March 8. We'll update when Riot do, but keep an eye on theserver maintenance pagefor the latest updates.
LoL Patch 8.5 New Champion: Kai'Sa
Trapped in the Void between worlds as a girl, Kai'Sa has broken free, and returns to the Rift. The high-risk, high-reward marksman can cover large distances extremely quickly, and upgrades her abilities based on her bonus stats.

Second Skin (P):
- "Caustic Wounds – Kai'Sa's basic attacks stack Plasma for 4 seconds and deal [(7-12) + 10 % AP] + ([(1-9) + 5% AP] per stack) bonus magic damage. Kai'Sa's attacks detonate Plasma at 4 stacks, dealing bonus damage equal to ([15-20] + [2.5 per 100 AP])% of the target's missing health (max: 400 against monsters).
- Allies' immobilizing effects on champions also add 1 stack of Plasma.
- Living Weapon – Kai'Sa's suit adapts to her choices, evolving her abilities based on permanent stats from Items and Champion Levels.
Icathian Rain (Q):
- 55 mana
- 10/9/8/7/6 second cooldown
- "Kai'Sa launches 6 missiles that split among nearby enemies, each dealing 45/61.25/77.5/93.75/110 (+40% bonus AD) (+20% AP) physical damage. Additional hits on a champion or monster deal 30% damage (max: 113/153/194/234/275 (+100% bonus AD)(+75 AP).
- Living Weapon – 100 Bonus Attack Damage (current: X) – Icathian Rain fires 12 missiles.
- Minions below 35% health take 200% damage."
- After upgraded with living weapon, Q's 12 rockets make the maximum damage to 194/263/333/403/473 (+172% AD)(+129% AP).
Void Seeker (W):
- 55/60/65/70/75 mana
- 22/20/18/16/14 second cooldown
- "Kai'Sa fires a Void blast that grants True Sight on the first enemy hit, deals 20/45/70/95/120 (+1.5 total AD)(+ 65 AP) magic damage, and applies 2 stacks of Plasma.
- Living Weapon – 100 Ability Power (current: x ) – Void Seeker applies 3 stacks of Plasma and refunds 50% cooldown on champion hit."
Supercharge (E):
- 30 mana
- 16/15.5/15/14.5/14 second cooldown
- "Kai'Sa spends [1.5 seconds] Supercharging her Void Energy. She gains [40/45/50/55/60]% Movement Speed during the charge, and 40/50/60/70/80% Attack Speed for 5 seconds when charged.
- Living Weapon – 100% Attack Speed (current: X%) – Supercharge grants Invisibility for 0.5 seconds
- Basic attacks reduce Supercharge's cooldown by 0.5 seconds. Supercharge's cast time and Movement Speed improve with Attack Speed."
Killer Instinct (R):
- 100 mana
- 110/90/70 second cooldown
- 1500/2000/2500 range
- Kai'Sa warps to a location near an enemy champion affected by Plasma, gaining a shield that absorbs 75/100/125 (+ 100/150/200% total AD)(+75% AP) damage for 3 seconds.

LoL Patch 8.5 Balance Changes
That out of the way, let's start with the really important bit, shall we? What you need to is that stuff on the PBE like this is neither guaranteed to happen, nor to be in the next patch even if it does. This is what the folks over at Riot are thinking about doing. We've got the numbers on what's changing, and a general guideline on which way each champion, item, mastery, summoner spell or rune is moving.

Azir –nerfed
- Conquering Sands (Q):
- Sand soldier damage decreased to 60/80/100/120/140 from 70/95/120/145/170.
Galio –nerfed
- Winds of War (Q):
- Cooldown increased to 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds from 10/9/8/7/6 seconds.
- Cost increased to 70/85/100/115/130 from 70/75/80/85/90.
Jhin –buffed
- Whisper (P):
- ive AD increased to 4-44% from 2-40%.
- Dancing Grenade (Q):
- AD ratio increased to 40/47.5/55/62.5/70%. from 40/45/50/55/60%.
- Deadly Flourish (W):
- W now roots off all damage Jhin deals.
Nocturne –buffed
- Umbra Blades (P):
- Healing based on level changed to 15-40 based on level from 10/18/26
- ive cooldown reduction on basic attack when attacking champions increased to 2 seconds from 1.
- Shroud of Darkness (W):
- If Shroud of Darkness is active when Nocturne re-casts Paranoia to dash to a target, it'll stay active until Nocturne reaches his target
- Paranoia (R):
- Enemy vision reduction duration increased to 6 seconds from 4 seconds.
Olaf –buffed
- Reckless Swing (E):
- Cooldown decreased to 11/10/9/8/7 seconds from 12/11/10/9/8 seconds.
- AD ratio increased to 50% from 40%
- Ragnarok (R):
- Active duration increased to 7 seconds from 6 seconds.
- Bonus AD increased to 15/20/25 + 30% of total AD from 40/60/80.
Rengar –changed
- Unseen Predator (P):
- Ferocity falloff timer increased to 8 seconds from 6 seconds.
- Savagery (Q):
- Damage increased to 30/60/90/120/150 (+1/1.05/1.1/1.15/1.2 total AD) from20/50/80/110/140 (+1.1 TAD).
- Ratio changed to 1/1.05/1.1/1.15/1.2 from 1.1 at all ranks.
- Bola Strike (E):
- If Rengar presses Q or W during Bola Strike's cast time, he'll now buffer those spells and cast them when Bola Strike completes
- Thrill of the Hunt (R):
- Rengar's true vision now lingers until the end of his leap.
Ryze –changed
- Spell Flux (E):
- Damage increased to 70/90/110/130/150 from 50/75/100/125/150
- Spell Flux now only deals 50% damage upon spreading.
- Realm Warp (R):
- Cooldown increased from 120 seconds to 180 seconds.
Shyvana –buffed
- AD per level increased to 3.5 from 2.8.
Skarner –nerfed
- Fracture (E)
- Stun durection decreased to 1.25 seconds from 1.5 seconds.
Swain –buffed
- Death's Hand (Q):
- Cooldown lowered to 5.5/4.75/4/3.25/2.5 from 7.5/6.25/5/3.75/2.5
- Visions of Empire (W):
- Radius increased to 325 units from 265.
Tristana –changed
- Attack range decreased to 525-661 units from 550-669.
- Draw A Bead (P):
- Attack range and cast range of Explosive Charge increased to 0-136 from 0-119.
- Rocket Jump (W):
- Damage increased to 85/135/185/235/285 from 60/110/160/210/260.
Twitch –buffed
- Contaminate (E):
- Base damage increased to 20/30/40/50/60 from 20/25/30/35/40.
Volibear –nerfed
- Majestic Roar (E):
- Knockback speed increased, decrease to the duration of the effect.
Zoe –changed
- Attack range increased to 550 from 525
- Paddle Star (Q):
- Damage increased to 50/75/100/125/150 + 60% AP from 45/60/75/90/105 + 20% AP.
- No longer deals More Sparkles! damage to the first target hit.
- Gains base damage based on Zoe's level: 7/8/10/12/14/16/18/20/22/24/26/29/32/35/38/42/46/50
- Deals 20% reduced damage to enemies not directly hit
- Spell Thief (W):
- Bubble pickup range increased from 525 to 550
- Damaged increased to 75/120/165/210/255 + 75% AP from 70/115/160/205/250 + 60% AP
Patch 8.5 Item Changes
Banner of Command–nerfed
- Banner of Command's damage multiplier against turrets no longer stacks with the identical multiplier from Hand of Baron.
Enchantment: Cinderhulk–nerfed
- Percent bonus health modifier decreased to 15% from 20%.
Hextech GLP-800–buffed
- Damage increased to 100-200 from 75-150
- Slow increased to 65% from 40%.
Shurelya's Reverie–returning!
- Cost: 2100g
- Recipe: Kindlegem + Aether Wisp + 450g
- 40 AP
- 200 health
- 10% CDR
- 8% movement speed
- Unique Active: Grants yourself and nearby allies 40% bonus movement speed for 3 seconds (60 second cooldown).
Warmog's Armor–nerfed
- Warmog's Heart health threshold increased to 3000 max health from 2750 max health.
Ancient Coin–changed
- No longer grants Bandit
- New effect: "Before quest completion, killing multiple minions or monsters temporarily disables Favor and gold generation. Disable time increases based on recent minion kills and resets at the shop."
Frostfang–changed
- Gold per tribute increased to 20 from 15.
- New effect: "Before quest completion, killing multiple minions or monsters temporarily disables Tribute and gold generation. Disable time increases based on recent minion kills and resets at the shop."
Nomad's Medallion–changed
- Gold per coin increased to 45 from 40.
- Expected coun drop rate decreased to 8.5 per 10 minutes from 9 per 10 minutes.
- New effect: "Before quest completion, killing multiple minions or monsters temporarily disables Favor and gold generation. Disable time increases based on recent minion kills and resets at the shop."
- No longer grants Bandit.
Relic Shield–changed

Remnant of the Aspect–buffed

Spellthief's Edge–changed

Targon's Brace–changed
- Gold per 10 seconds increased to 4 from 2.
Patch 8.5 Rune Changes
Fleet Footwork–changed
- Now notes healing for ranged attack on minion is 30% effective.
Press the Attack–buffed
- Vulnerable damage increased to 8-12% from 4-12%.
Aftershock–nerfed
- Cooldown increased to 35s from 20s
LoL Patch 8.5 Other Changes
- Cloud Drake buff –buffed
- Cloud drake's buff changed to 2/4/6% movespeed, tripled when out of combat, from 25/50/75 out of combat movespeed.
- Tower reward –nerfed
- First tower kill gold decreased to 200 from 300.
- Manaflow Band
- Now has an indicator on the buff bar when it's on cooldown
LoL Patch 8.5 New Skins
Second most important: cosmetics. Lovely, gorgeous cosmetics. Bit more of a visual medium this, so we've grabbed the best videos of each skin, as well as a lovely pic or two. Some are relatively simple changes, while others are total reworks of every part of the champion outside the gameplay numbers – new VO, new animations, new particles and the rest.
