As a TCG enthusiast and long-time League of Legends player, Riot's new League of Legends card game – codenamed Project K – has piqued my interest ever since its reveal. While it was initially only set for distribution in China, Riot has confirmed that the TCG – now officially known as Riftbound – will debut in the West later this year, with over 300 cards at launch and various different deck types. My bank just groaned.
Officially entitled Riftbound, Riot's new MOBA, and debuts with over 300 cards and three pre-constructed decks.
The three precons on offer revolve around Arcane favorites Jinx and Viktor, as well as the Blind Monk himself, Lee Sin. These decks – aptly entitled Champion Decks – feature 56 cards, including battlegrounds, champions, legends, gear, runes, spells, and units. These are aimed at more experienced TCG, and feel similar to standard MTG.
There are also four Proving Grounds decks, which are aimed at beginners or more casual players. Featuring four of League of Legends' most iconic beginner champs – Annie, Garen, Lux, and Master Yi – Proving Grounds is a boxed set that's aimed at a group of two to four players.
For the true strategists among us, however, don't worry, there are booster packs, too. Each one contains 14 cards of varying rarity, and will be available when Riftbound launches – get ready to smash some precons, folks.
Riot's League of Legends card game, formerly Project K, now Riftbound, will launch in China in Summer 2025, with Western regions following in October. Other regional variants will roll out in early 2026.
