Raiders of Blackveil is a roguelite loot chaser with LoL-style champions

With in-depth buildcrafting and loads of loot to chase, Raiders of Blackveil is a freshly revealed co-op roguelite RPG from a new studio.

When I heard that the co-founder of IO Interactive, the creator of the brilliant Hitman series, has opened up a new studio full of developers that have worked on the likes of Tomb Raider and Just Cause, I thought that we'd maybe get a cinematic action title or a stealthy shooter. I didn't expect its debut game to be Raiders of Blackveil, a roguelite, loot-chasing co-op game that offers MOBA levels of buildcrafting.

There are quite a few co-op experiences springing up at the moment with Raiders of Blackveil aims to set itself apart with its cast of animal characters that are apparently as deep and versatile as League of Legends champions when it comes to build possibilities. While it is playable solo, three-player co-op appears to be the best way to play Wombo Games' freshly announced title, and as such there are three distinct roles to play – tank, DPS, and .

As an additional layer, each character can draw from a pool of over 300 perks, divided out into eight categories that align themselves with some traditional action RPG classes – Assassin, Druid, Guardian, Mage, Monk, Priest, Warlock, and Warrior. As an additional additional layer, you can synergize builds with other of your party by using powerful Duo Perks. Prepare for some unique and devastating combos.

On top of all that, a loadout of weapons and items will need to be constructed as well.

Once you've spent ages agonizing over your build, it's time to go on some Diablo-esque loot hunting. There isn't too much info at the moment about the exact gameplay loop, but considering there are roguelike elements at play, I expect there will be semi-randomized runs with some kind of escalating difficulty. All we do know is there'll be loot – lots of it.

As well as finding new items for your loadout, including "unique legendaries and mythic items with special effects," you'll also be hunting for treasures, trinkets, and currencies. Why? To help your band of animals to fight back against the sinister Blackveil corporation – Blackveil wants to enslave all wildlife to help it prosper in a dystopian, consumerist world.
