New co-op horror hit has more players than GTA 5 and Apex Legends on Steam

Co-op horror hit REPO has swiftly climbed up the Steam charts since launch, and just overtook GTA 5, Stardew Valley, and Apex Legends.

REPO has spent the last few weeks growing on Steam, and now it's one of the biggest games on Valve's platform. The spooky indie is so big, in fact, that it just beat out the likes of GTA 5 Enhanced and Stardew Valley, as players band together to make some cash in the Lethal Company-style online experience. In a year filled with surprises, REPO s the club.

If you haven't heard of horror game, and since launch at the end of February it's been getting bigger and bigger.

A few weeks ago REPO peaked at around 20,000 concurrent players, but as I write this the game has shot up to a staggering 202,912 logging in at once. While it's not the million plus that Monster Hunter Wilds has boasted, REPO has still done extraordinarily well. For a brief moment on Friday March 14, it had more players than the likes of GTA 5 Enhanced, Stardew Valley, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege. These games have been consistently pulling in players for years (if we count the new version of GTA as the same as the old one), and REPO has steadily overtaken them all.

Whether or not REPO can hold onto these players remains to be seen, but developer semiwork at least has a lot planned for the game's future. To start, the team is looking at public and private matchmaking with a kick button after it was overwhelmingly requested.

The new Museum level is also coming along well, according to semiwork, with plenty of parkour opportunities. The next version of REPO will even have some quality-of-life improvements and new items, so you'll have more toys to play with.
