Huge Morrowind mod project Tamriel Rebuilt dates new expansion with 270 quests

Aiming to expand The Elder Scrolls Morrowind to its entire province, mod project Tamriel Rebuilt dates its new Grasping Fortune expansion.

In the wake of Oblivion Remastered, it's only fair that old-school fans of The Elder Scrolls wonder if we'll ever see something similar for the game that laid the groundwork for its success. While an official Morrowind remaster is yet to be seen, several colossal mod projects are in the works, planning to expand and enhance Bethesda's iconic open-world RPG. Now, one of the most ambitious, Tamriel Rebuilt, has a date for its colossal new expansion, Grasping Fortune.

Tamriel Rebuilt is a long-term mod project that aims to expand the playable region of open-world game.

Its latest expansion, Grasping Fortune, has been long in the making and introduces a sizable new landmass to the south, which the team says brings over 140 handcrafted dungeons, more than 270 additional quests, and an estimated 1,100 NPCs to the RPG. The best news, however, is that it's almost here.

The focus of Grasping Fortune is the metropolis of Narsis, and it's been several years in the making. "We need a lot to fill out a landmass four times the size of Vvardenfell to the same degree of diversity," developer 'Sultan of Rum' described in a recent update. "Thankfully, our artists obliged." Expect to encounter all manner of weird and wonderful beasts, then, from the terrifying Canyon Thresher to the giant, lovable Sand Kwoom.

After more than two decades in the works, this is one of the biggest leaps forward for Tamriel Rebuilt in a long time, and a major step towards the team's goal of eventually adding the entire mainland. If that has you eager to jump in, you only need to wait a few days to do so.

The Elder Scrolls Morrowind: Tamriel Rebuilt's new expansion, Grasping Fortune, launches Thursday May 1. You can find the latest details and the mod project via its official website.
